Neon Genesis:
"It's like that movie, Lord of the Flies, only with a lot less subtext and whole lot more card games!"

Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Episode 4- Lord of the Cards

superdave:
I just started reading the book today.  you can get it now from the kindle lending library if you own a kindle and have amazon prime.

So far I can't say it's grabbing me but I am a fast reader so I'll give it a go.

MikeHz:
It looks like the full movie version is already online: The Hunger Games Movie Part 1

Neutral Milk:
I enjoyed the books. Had a hard time putting them down because they were so faced paced. Still I had a lot of qualms with them. I hate that there is so little background on why the world is like this, a huge unfulfilling and simplistic explanation of how the world actually is, and absolutely no social commentary (which some people might like, but I'd rather have some commentary than none in a post-apocalyptic novel).

Anyway, I'm excited about the movie.

Jay_One:
Been a while since I read the books, but I thought the background was explained, or did I just make my own up?

Set in the future, global warming ruined everything, oppressive government, people decided to rebel, didn't work, yearly reminder of it.
