Quote
"Let me repeat that: The injury and inflammation in our blood vessels is caused by the low fat diet recommended for years by mainstream medicine.

What are the biggest culprits of chronic inflammation? Quite simply, they are... the overload of simple, highly processed carbohydrates (sugar, flour and all the products made from them) and the excess consumption of omega-6 vegetable oils like soybean, corn and sunflower that are found in many processed foods."

I'd rather eat all the disgustingly unhealthy stuff I like and live happily for 65 years than eat a bunch of stuff I don't like, that may have some health benefit, so that I have the chance to live unhappily for 75 years. That doesn't sound like a good trade-off to me. :)

Wouldn't "low sugar diet" be a more accurate description of healthy eating? We still need plenty of carbs to operate at our peak afterall.

Maybe it's the fallacy of listening to hosts of experts, but there are quite a number of long serving cardiologists (both Mr.'sand Dr.'s) that are writing books and blogs and saying the same thing.

65 is getting a bit too close to the bone for me.  I think I can do a healthy 80 and get killed in an avalanche skiing powder.  Anyway, I swallowed the kool-aid years ago and gave up the crap food for unlimited meat, vegies, red wine and BUTTER.

First hit on Google for "Dwight Lundell": http://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/lundell.html

Have to go to bed and haven't read it but it sounds like the same old simplified (LCHF in this case) diet crap.

I don't eat much red meat and certainly don't eat very much fried foods, as they tend to make me a bit sick. Thats healthy enough for me.

Don't know about you, but for me "happily" means "healthy". Apart from that there are many well-reseached links between bad food and not feeling happy, especially so for the overabundance of Omega-6 vs. Omega-3, which among all the problems related to inflammation also affect mood negatively.

bad food

I've always operated under the assumption there is really no "bad food", there are "bad diets" though.

Meh, if you look at the distribution of heart disease and varying diets around the world, it is pretty obvious that it is far more complicated than 'carbs are bad'.

However, people like that diet magic bullet and think that they have some sort of domain over their genetics, so this sort of rubbish is always going to be a popular ideology.
