I will not believe in anything I cannot explain

Really!?  :ughh:

I don't know if I can believe until I understand.

magnetic or electric opposites we call ones and zeros create the visualization of words I'm seeing right now at this thing called a computer.

...how?!!! ...I believe it, and I know it was a slow process from computing to computer monitors with HD porn, but I can't fathom how to get there.

I believe there is a process to display images on a computer screen. But if I can't define the process do I believe it?

let's tackle that after your back up your prior assertion with a demonstration.

The assertion that I don't know if I can believe things until I understand them? Do you think I do know that can believe things without understanding them and I'm just yanking your chain?

This is what started me to look up the rest of the quote that I sent in for this week.
I had never heard of Ingersoll.

I live in Tennessee and I wrote my state rep last year when the  "teach the controversy" bill first came up.  His response is below. This is why we can't have nice things.

Mr. [Rockhead], Thank you for your email.  I did not get too many regarding this particular bill. Sir, I chose to vote for this bill because I believe it will allow teachers to teach any and all theories of creation.  We put them out there and allow students to think about them.  Once upon a time we adults taught that the world was flat.   David Alexander

I would have liked it if the CO2 eating organism thing near the start had got a little nod to how we've already warmed up the atmosphere so there's more water vapor and the like- that just taking the CO2 out wouldn't flat out undo our greenhouse actions, but could slow down or stop us from causing further feedback.

e: The MLP episode that's out of had her just accept that thing she couldn't explain in the end though. I felt like she was being a strawman vulcan in that episode :<

...did schooling institutions even exist at that point in history?

I'm pretty sure flat earth isn't among the stupid beliefs Aristotle had about the world.

He almost sounds like he's bragging about it. Is he suggesting that perhaps schools ought to be teaching the flat Earth theory along with other possible theories of geography?
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

An encouraging note on the FC angle.  In my classes on Exceptional Needs for my Master of Arts in Teaching I asked the professor if she had any experiences with FC in her 25 year career in public education.  She not only had not encountered it, but did not even know what it was.  When I explained it briefly she only replied; "Sounds silly to me.  Like an Ouija board."  I was very pleased.
