Dana Carvey is another good example; whatever his health problems are, he did Master of Disguise and that was basically the end of him.

On a scale from "Kill me now!" to "I have to see that again!" that movie was a "Do not watch this film without taking drugs first."

I thought both Caddyshack and The Waterboy were hilarious, but I'll accept that I'm the only one who thinks so. I admit that the rest of his movies have been utter garbage.

I have not had the displeasure of seeing Jack and Jill, and I'll keep it that way.

You mean Happy Gilmore? I thought the Bob Barker scene was kind of funny but that was about it. I liked... crap, now I have to look his stuff up because I know I enjoyed something of his... oh hey. 50 First Dates was pretty funny, albeit primarily for Drew Barrymore and the supporting cast, not Sandler. I also liked Spanglish but that's another one of those serious Sandler movies (Tea Leoni goes full retard in it, which is awesome and hilarious, but I'm not sure that role was actually supposed to be as funny as it was).

There are Adam Sandler movies, and movies Adam Sandler is in.  I honestly do buy the premise that Adam Sandler movies are money scams for Sandler and his friends.

Particularly when all of his "Sandler and friends" movies these days seem to take place in the Hamptons or Hawaii or Marin County or aboard a cruise ship or what have you.....

If studios were dumb enough to pay me and all my buddies wads of money to go make a movie in various desireable vacation spots, and I could get away with being as artistically lazy as he is....I'd totally do it!

Though in his defense, he does occasionally attempt to be involved in a project that has some merit.  "Funny People" was not great, but a completely acceptable attempt.  (I assume that has much more to do with Aptow than anything else) and "Bedtime Stories" was at least an honest attempt at a decent kids movie.

Well.  There it is.

He had some funny films at the start of his film career but my main problem with him (besides the voices and fart-jokes) is the fact that he seems to make a movie about every stupid idea he gets in his head.  I think he can be funny but he should slow down and take the time to write and re-write scripts until they are actually good and make one movie every 3yrs instead of what seems like 3 movies per year!

He owns his own production company "Happy Madison Productions" so I would assume he pays for and produces his own films that are picked up and distributed by larger studios.  So he doesn't need "pull" to make movies, like I said he can make any insane idea that comes to him.  I am not exactly sure how the money flows in the film industry but my gf forced me to watch "Jack and Jill"(horrible 1/10, the 1 given only for Pacino) and this movie was produced by HMP and distributed by Columbia Pictures, with a budget of $79million and it grossed $148million, so if Sandler's paying to make his own films then we are going to see this crap for a long time.

Speaking earlier of blaming Sandler for Rob Schneider, ironically it looks like it was Schneider that got HMP rolling in the first place.  Happy Madison Productions made "Deuce Bigalow" and "The Animal" with Schneider's first two movies grossing $130million more than the budgets, while Sandler's first HMP film "Little Nicky" lost around $40 million.

It is interesting to note that looking at HMP's budgets for films, any movie with Sandler in it has a budget of >$75m while any movie starring an SNL buddy has a budget of $16-$25million.  Sadly though, if you look at this list, the majority of his films make money so there will be more crap to come.

Yeah, Happy Gilmore, or whatever the golf one was. Jack and Jill seems to be a new level of suck for Sandler, hopefully he'll top it. >:D

Everyone who thinks Jack and Jill is the worst Sandler movie has obviously never seen Little Nicky.

Jack and Jill is the laziest Sandler movie, Little Nicky is obviously the worst.

Shit. I had actually repressed the memory of that movie.

That movie also apparently died at the box office, thus also killing my hypothesis. :( OTOH, I totally forgot about The Wedding Singer, which is the other Sandler movie I still like.

I enjoyed the Wedding Singer; really laughed a lot at The Waterboy (mostly in scenes with Henry Winkler or Kathy Bates), and there are parts of Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison that I still find chuckle worthy.

That's the extent of my liking Sandler movies.
