Multiple Posts in a Row
« on: Apr 03, 2012, 03:04:46 PM »
Is there any rule about making multiple posts in a thread rather than merging all the stuff into one post?  This is a pet peeve of mine........   I know some threads have this posting restriction.

Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?'
Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand.”

There is, however, something not allowing you to post more then twice a minute.

There was the waiting period that was implemented a couple of years back thanks to one user who was notorious for posting 5 individual sentences in a row as separate posts.

That SUCKED

I have been known to do it in Mafia games, due to the no edit rule.  And it cropped up on 4/1 because of the character limit, and I realized once again how badly I detested it.

Personally I think it impedes discussion (somewhat) and if they are in a discussion it can cause a proliferation of one line threads.

I do it all the time. Are you saying I should only respond to one person until someone else happens along the thread and responds?

Besides it builds post count.

It's not against the rules to post in a thread in rapid succession, unless it's being done disruptively. There's a 30-second wait time between posts a single member can make, mainly to prevent rapid-succession posts from becoming disruptive.

I know it's annoying when combined with the no-edit rule in Mafia games, but I don't know of any ways around that.

any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now;
let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

How about just banning them?
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

Why cant you just actually read the thread and figure out what you want to respond to, then just use one post to do so? Or if you cant manage that, you could use the edit button.
