So many people are into True Blood. I don't get it.

Spaced was very disappointing

I think this is the first time I've heard this from anyone

Tell me honestly how much have the people knocking Vampire Diaries actually watched it?  It's completely incomparable to the Twilight series (which I hate BTW) beyond one or two basic premises.  True Blood is ok but (and I never thought I'd say this) it's a tad over-sexed.  That's also the reason I think it's so popular by the way.  I've only seen the first two seasons and while it's interesting enough, I find it really overly dramatic but still mildly entertaining.

Oh, and for a new disappointing TV show from me; how about Sliders?  It had so much potential that it was never able to fully take advantage of for various reasons.  I honestly think it's incredibly prime pickings for a reboot or sequel so long as the showrunner and studio behind it have some guts to really go for it.

Jesus, you think? Although, to be fair, I don't remember the details of each season's story-lines. But I do remember thinking there were a shit-load of bad episodes in general.

Upon reflection, you're right, I definitely gave it too much credit.  Even outside the mostly terrible season 3, there were plenty of clunkers.

I actually watch both True Blood and Vampire Diaries.  I like each of them for different reasons, but I wouldn't call either of them great TV.  I like some of the characters on each of them, and I like that they have different, somewhat interesting premises.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming season of True Blood because it looks like the best villain they've had is back.

Stargate: Universe.  They took the awesome Stargate series and turned it into a Battlestar Galactica clone.  Lame.

Don't get me wrong, there is plenty to be diappointed with about Vampire Diaries, I just think for a CW show it's pretty good and has done a good job and has done a good job being original in an overdone genre.

The Lost Room.  Fantastic, except for the last 5 minutes that completely ruins everything.

Funny, its the only stargate I've liked since the movie.

Stargate is awesome, but exceptionally cheesy.  SGU was a needed development in tone, but they didn't handle it very well and seemed to be afraid to take many risks.  They didn't really earn the level of tension they tried to inject into the show.

I liked the original stargate series exactly because they didn't take themselves too seriously.  That may have been my biggest problem with SG:U and BSG.

I saw a few episodes of the Vampire Diaries and it was completely forgettable for me, it seems like another teen drama but add vampires. I have watched a few teen dramas, Veronica Mars, Inbetweeners, Freaks and Geeks, and Undelcared but they're not the type of teen drama I'm talking about it was more 90210. I also like the vampire genre, I watch a lot of vampire themed tv and movies, but this really didn't show me anything interesting.

True Blood on the hand has fantastic moments and characters as Calinthalus has shown, but as lukebourassa has pointed out the pace and amount of filler make it hard to watch. If it wasn't for the sex I don't think people would be bothered to stick around for the good parts of the show. In some ways it's original and hilarious, it definitely has pay offs, including the sex.

Stargate: Universe was pretty terrible in many respects, bad acting from almost everyone, extremely derivative and unoriginal, but Robert Carlyle was brilliant and I wasn't a big fan of his before this show after seeing him in many movies.

Dollhouse didn't make any sense, and the action was poorly done but used a lot, most of the episodes were a complete bore. You can store a person's memories and personality and upload into someone else, so you create a company that solves problems like hostage situations or provides hookers with various expert personalities.

Heroes had a great first season but they couldn't resolve the plot, they didn't seem to have a plan, and I just didn't care enough about the characters as they got used to their powers, a lot of what made the show for me was how they reacted to discovering they had powers. What was going on with the acting, writing, and direction for the Peter Petrelli character, a lot of the time his actions were idiotic, he was played as if he had learning difficulties at times as well, but other times he seemed to have average intelligence. There weren't enough limits, a lot of heroes were way too powerful, and that always leads to bad storytelling.

I came to realize that it was specifically Richard Dean Anderson and the silly energy he inserted into the show that made it for me.  When he cased to be a main character, I started to drift from the shows.

I downloaded season one based on a colleague's recommendation and the fact that I love Buffy and True Blood.

I have watched the first three or four episodes.

I am finding the Vampire Diaries a bit, well, shit.
