Mistborn "Mood Trailer"
« on: Apr 09, 2012, 02:32:30 PM »
The company that owns the film rights to the Mistborn series had their mood trailer leaked and/or released what's apparently called a "mood trailer".

For those who aren't aware, this is basically a collection of clips from other works cut together in such a way as to give companies an idea what sort of tone and aesthetic they're going for as they shop around for a production company.

Despite not being new material, I found the trailer pretty good, and thought other Mistborn fans here might enjoy it.

I did enjoy it thanks.

You've got to think the chances have never been better for any fantasy series to be picked up.

Hope so!

I think most of the movies used in that trailer are unknown to me, but they looked pretty neat.

I recognized the Underworld part--where the chick is jumping off the balcony. But I'd love to see a list of the movies they used.

300 was there (the scene where the guy steps onto other people's backs, plus perhaps others).
Chronicles of Riddick was used to represent what I think is supposed to be atium burning.

A lot of the others I didn't recognize though.

Snow White and the Huntsmen

This one appears to have been used quite a bit.

I'm kind of afraid of this being made into a movie. It's one of those series I don't think I'll be able to judge fairly. Mistborn is the only series I've ever read twice. Hell, the only books I've ever read twice.

I did like the "mood" of the trailer, though. It fits fairly well. Not nearly bleak or hopeless enough, but it works for its purpose.

Of all Brandon's stuff, this is the one that seemed to be written the most visually.  I think it would work well as film (or television).
