It's become cliche at this point to reboot shows and movies for various reasons, but while it's easy to hate on such decisions given how prevalent they are, if I'm honest with myself I realize that many of them are actually fairly decent or at the very least entertaining.  It got me thinking about what franchises that I'd like to get the reboot treatment and I thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thought as well.

So to kick things off;

Sliders (full of wasted potential, and honestly the characters were far less important to me than the premise and story concepts.  I wouldn't even care if it was just a sequel)

Earth 2 (Great concept that just didn't work out.  Given enough time, I think it could have really become something special.  Also, given the state of climate politics, I think that it's ripe for the picking right now)

Space: Above and Beyond (I was a pretty happy with this show as it was, but it was far too short-lived and could do with another go)

Ooo!  Good one!  Would it still have Leonard Nimoy, or would you cast Zachary Quinto?

I agree on sliders, though the writing in the end is what killed the show. They could very easily use the story premise and keep switching out characters over the years in an almost Doctor Who style.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Firefly. I would LOVE to see that back up and running.

Also, though likely not as popular to non-campy comic type fans like myself, The Cape.

No one mentioned Firefly because we don't think it needs a reboot. It was fine as it was and could just stand to be picked up where it left off.

I vaguely remember Sliders - was that the one with Jason Bateman going to alternate universes?  If so I agree.

I think some of the old sci-fi could do well (from what I heard BG did okay) and so I nominate "Space, 1999"

Yes. Although it was Jerry O'Connell rather than Jason Bateman.

Personally, I would love to see a reboot of the Star Wars franchise, with Zahn and Stackpole as the primary team and Lucas pushed to the side for the most part.  Would be perfectly happy for it to be novels only.

Agreed with those two but generally don't think reboots are a good idea.  Look at futurama or family guy. Even when you have a large part of the original cast you can't recreate the momentum.  Show's that where awesome come back as meh. I can’t think of a reboot that has turned out well although it’s early and sense there is at least one or two obvious ones that I’m missing.

I am actually excited about the Stooges reboot.  The three guys they got are so spot on, it is pretty amazing to see, but still funny.

Lucas will have to die first and even then I'm not entirely sure you'd be able to overcome the nerd-rage.  Frankly, I'm amazed that Star Trek got away with it.

I really liked dead like me and pushing daises, but both shows had such absurd premises that I don't think either could have run for very long before the plot holes would become too much to endure.   FYI, there was a dead like me TV movie that would have served as a introduction for a third season had it been popular enough.  It was pretty good IMO but my previous point still stands.
