misfits of science I loved the pilot and was so looking forward to this show, then they dropped it. I have yet to go back and try and watch it now so it may have totally sucked. 9 year old me thought it was bad ass for 1985.

This show excited the fuck out of me at the time. I thought it was totally bizarre that it got cancelled. Then again, I was just a dumb kid.

Only if they go back to the lead being overly serious like the original, rather than the pratfaller of the movies.

Exactly. A show like that would probably succeed today, though maybe not on a major network. The show was apparently cancelled because audiences reported they had to shift their viewing habits when watching it. They had to, get this, watch it. There were so many visual puns and jokes, you couldn't fold laundry and follow the story. You had to put everything aside and pay attention.
I thought they cancelled it cause they ran out of garbage cans.

(edit - I just realized that might have sounded like an insult but in fact it's an in-joke referencing the opening credits)

It was during the episode itself (the credits gag was the special guest star dying a few seconds after being introduced). For those who don't remember the series, every episode included a point where the car hit some garbage cans, and if you counted the cans, that was the episode number. Maybe they could have done dumpsters as 10s.  ;)

A bigger problem would be the end summation would get longer than the rest of the episode.

Man, what ever happened to the silly comedy of Police Squad and Airplane?  Leslie Nelson can't be the only one capable of that sort of humor.  Now all we get is romantic comedies and bromances.  Lame.

There's still plenty of the silly slap stick, it just all sucks.  The lesser Wayan's Brothers have done a dozen airplanesque craptastic movies.  Epic movie, scary movie etc.

Could you imagine Joss Wheedon rebooting Cop Rock? That would be mortally awesome.

Defying Gravity: Great show. Never found an audience. Interested in finding out what the story line would have been. Great cast. Veyr disappointed when the show was cancelled.

The Unusuals:  A really good detective show. Quirky and fresh. Really liked the show, but I knew it was too good for tv.

Babylon 5 (full 5 season arc commitment): Without a doubt the best, fully realized Sci-Fi show to ever air. With some decent money and a commitment to air the entire scripted show (no compressed 4th season), I firmly believe people will finally get past the cheap look and fall in love with the show. If any show deserves a reboot, time, and money, it is this show above all else.

Life (the detective show with Mandy Patkin): Very fresh. Very interesting. Loved the show and how it was developing. Hated when it was cancelled. It sucks but this show, like many others suffered from too good for tv syndrome.

Enterprise: This Trek show had so much potential. I would love to see it rebooted with a clear direction and commitment to the story. I loved Baccula as Archer. Would love to see this redone.

Firefly: I'm sure this is on most people's list. I just can't accept one season for such a great show. Pull Fillon off Castle - it sucks - and get everyone back to the show.

Journey Man: This is one of the better time travel shows. I was really taken aback when it was cancelled. It seemed to be right on the bubble. It was quality tv but was still popular.

Quantum Leap: i'm I right? This show was awesome. I missed it still. I would love to see this rebooted.

I remember the time-travelling show Voyagers being like that for me. However, I bet that show is REALLY awful.

I very much wanted to like this show but didn't.  Too much of it didn't make any sense and I didn't care about most of the characters.

Never understood the love for this show.

I'm one of the few trek fans that liked this show, but you're right, there didn't see any commitment by the writers and it just felt directionless.

It really fell apart in the end, I'd rather see bacula on a good version of Enterprise.

Mostly, I'm responding to the Unusuals and Life, Great television that didn't get a long enough run.  I recommend them to everyone.  I think Life even lasted more than a single season.

Life had two seasons.

babylon 5's love comes from watching the entire series and looking past the horrible production values. There is a lot against the show. But the story line was well done and it was the first show to be scripted from beginning to end I believe.

It was a show that probably could not have gotten beyond season 1 if it were not for the Internet and online communities like Compuserve. I came to it Season 2 ep 10 (gropos). I had to go online and find all ep guides, character guides, etc. to catch up.

I liked all of these, but the only one I would want to actually see rebooted would be B5, and even that is a little iffy for me.  There were a lot of memorable performances in that show and as pointed out, the plot was already fully thought out and executed so it'd be hard to stay fresh beyond the visuals.  Still, it's pretty dated on that front and some of the other actors were a little stiff so there's room for a redo.

Enterprise was ok, but I think rebooting it would still invite the same problems.  Better to just go in another direction.

The others I liked, but I wouldn't want a full-fledged reboot.  I'd want a continuation of them.  Quantum Leap without Al and Sam just wouldn't feel right to me, and if any show deserved to be honored by bringing the original cast and crew back for new seasons, it's Firefly.  I suppose the Qunatum Leap reboot concept could work, but it'd be hard to make it not feel cheap.

No way leave B5 alone.
