Wave by arthwollipot, on Flickr

This piece of shell is a couple of millimetres long, and the wave shape is sculpted by the wind. I took this photo on the Coorong.

Damn, there are some amazing entries in this week. Figured I'd offer up something as well.

Voting is now open and will close Friday 12th October.

Think it's gonna be a tough decision this week.

I'm still trying to decide between the insect/arthropod ones. I love me some creepy crawler macro photos.

Congratulations to arthwollipat!  Since we are on the topic of close ups, my reversing ring came in the mail last night and I've been playing with it.  The most important thing about this photo is my seven-year-old's notes in her science journal:

"It is alive because it wriggles when touched. I think it is a moth or a beetle larvae. It has little wings forming so it has to be something that flies or has really large, peculiar ears."
