What's that in the sky?
« on: Apr 15, 2012, 11:24:44 AM »
Presented for your approval: a photo I took several years ago with a rather strange cloud formation. As much as I wanted to believe it was some kind of mysterious cloud-like alien spacecraft traversing the sky..... probably a better explanation is that during the several hours before sunset there were multiple contrails from passing jets and I guess the conditions were just perfect for contrails because they were all extremely long lived. At one point there were 4 or 5 well formed contrails criss-crossing the sky. My guess is, even though the contrails were mostly gone by this time, that this is a remnant of one of the contrails that managed to somehow survive and maybe condense a bit.
Taken in San Jose, CA. March 2010
