We had a sighting of truthbadger in chat, unfortunately it was shortlived and he didn't say anything.

If he's still reading, please come back, we love us some nutters.

I feel bad for truthbadger, can you imagine living in a world believing that stuff is true.
Apparently some people prefer that reality to the reality of things happening for not a great deal of reason, or at least in this case there being a small, 19-man conspiracy rather than a sweeping, thousand-man conspiracy.

Isn't it a really nice feeling to think you've figured out a massive, massive secret and are special because of it?  Then you get to be the unappreciated hero and any negative response is just a persecution you don't deserve.  Easier than actually being right or not knowing everything.

Yeah, there's also that sense, too, that living in an ordered world is more comforting than living in an unordered one, even if the ordered one involves things which are actively out to get you. It reminds me a bit of belief in the ancient Greek gods, who were capricious and kind of asshats, really, but who did make hurricanes appear and stuff. Having your house blown away because Zeus got angry at your town for not stocking his shrine with enough geese is, apparently, a more comforting reality than having your house blown away because of random weather patterns you have no control over.

On a related note, I commented on the JREF blog story that started this whole thing and linked to this forum thread. It was moderated and never posted. My post didn't contain anything controversial, inaccurate, or profane in any way and still didn't pass moderation. What's up with that site?

If JREF moderation were reasonable or understandable, I wouldn't be here today.

But that's a whole 'nother story!

let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

Well....their loss is our gain as I see it, Beleth.

As for JREF forums and blogs, I won't waste any more of my time trying to add to the discussions there if they can't tell the difference between spam and pertinent information about an article.  :P

I mean I can just come here if I want to be ignored.

<3 I know you and I don't interact very often, but you strike me as one of the more level-headed forum members. I think I have this impression because you don't post in Explicit very often (if at all) and all the crazy people flock there.

I almost pity people who behave like that. Can you imagine actually believing that everyone who disagrees with you is a paid scab? That's kind of creepy actually. Then again those with the unshakable fundie mindset do seem to hold a persecution complex and actively try to feed it. Grasping at the straws of sanity like that just shows some people do live in a chaotic, frightening world.

I may have taken some artistic license. Also, I skimmed some parts.
