More than a few researchers would disagree with you on the latter point, but they also make no distinction between the two, other than HFCS is so cheap that it has become the go to sweetener to help the product sell. The metabolic effects of glucose and fructose are quite different, though.

If high fructose corn syrup is poison, i would say it really sucks at doing its job.
