What is it about chicken that makes it such a close correlation?

Nothing.  That's the point.

O I C. Well, maybe I know some researchers who might disagree with you...

I'm sure I could draw a very similar graph correlating the prevalence of obesity with the popularity of print pornography. Therefore pornography makes you fat ?

I can't tell from your comment whether you got my point or missed it by a mile.  Indeed, since you failed to quote what you were replying to, I can't be certain you were referring to my post.

More commonly pornography gives you a fat. Definitely causal.

Just a quick update for those who are interested. I'm about 3/4 of the way through Phase One. I'm now at 127.5kg, down 2.5kg from when I started. A little slower than I would have liked but at least it's progress. I've been increasing the intensity of my exercise as well, now doing a 23 minute interval session on the bike, 20 minute intervals on the treadmill, 1km swim, plus weights,  three times a week. I'm following the Couch to 5K intervals program for the running portion. I've stopped being hungry all the time as I was in the first week, and no longer craving the footlong subs, curry and pasta that I was in the beginning.

Getting over the food cravings is step one in switching to a better diet.  Though I do occasionally want a big ol pile of french fries.

Faster you do it, the more likely it's going to come straight back afterwards.

Quick update. Had a bit of a setback this week: I picked up the a flu or chest infection. Haven't been able to get to the gym for for a week, but I've mostly kept up with the diet. Having finished Phase 1 I'm heading into Phase 2, and reintroducing fruits and some carbs (a very small amount of rice a couple of times a week). I've dropped to 126.5kg despite not exercising, and I'm hoping to get back to the gym next week. I've also done something to my knee which is doing to make the running part of my workout difficult but hopefully I can power through it.

Missing a week at the gym here or there certainly isn't going to hurt you.  Your body is fine with taking it easy every once in a while.  When you are done being sick, you'll hit it even harder next week.  I've been having a migraine for the last 6 days, so I'm with you this week.  Next week, we'll make up for it.
