I know we have at least one Iron Man, but how about the rest of you? Anyone do anything from 5ks to crazy-pee-yourself-in-public-races? I am doing my first race ever today and I am exited, its a 100k relay race. (click to show/hide)I have a 4.1 mile section known as "the easy part". There is a 8 mile section with 1,000 feet of elevation gain someone else is doing.

Sounds like fun man!  Let us know how it went!  I did an Olympic distance triathlon (1.5k/40k/10k) yesterday here in Vegas and it was a brutal 100*F down by the lake.  I finished in 6th and still feel the exhaustion from the heat.

Booooo to the title :P. I've got a dirt bike enduro in 2 weeks time. How about letting some moto into the thread? It's fitness related,  promise.

I dragged the dirt bike out of summer storage for a 90 minute ride yesterday. I even put a heart rate monitor on which averaged 155. Not as much as a push bike, but I did max out the heart through all the whoops. (Large repetitive bumps along the track). Also, thanks to taking up cycling, I feel a 100% improvement in my stamina compared to last year. I wasn't able to finish my last race (6 months ago), I was jut too unfit, and I swear my heart was maxed out for most of it.

Yeah I know how physically demanding those can be to drive. I just don't seem someone saying "I am going to get in shape by riding 25 miles a day".

Ah.hell:
I do a half marathon every six months or so.  I'm not anything approaching competitive.  I've also run the Bay to breakers 12k for the last 3 years.
