I don't know; he had it for a long time before I got there, I know that much (actually the station I worked at at the time got started in large part because the other conservative talk station in the market dumped him, which was especially bad on his part because that was his flagship station). I will say that there was a time where if you had even a little bit of celebrity, could speak into microphones, and were a conservative, you got your own talk show. Medved turned out to be pretty good at what he did, or at least dedicated enough to keep pushing at it until he got good.

you're not an atheist because you don't want to be associated with atheists? sorry, friend, that's not how it works.
this is like a woman saying she doesn't want to call herself a woman--she positively denies she is a woman--purely on the basis that she doesn't want to be identified with the womens movement, or like Brits saying they don't want to recognize their nationality lest they be associated with royalists.
atheist is just a fact, like American. ...maybe you don't want people to hate you knowing nothing else about you, so you don't want to admit that's what you are, but...c'mon, you're Neil DeGrasse Tyson, don't be such a pussy!

He is lobbying for more NASA funding and probably thinks that to be identified as an "atheist" won't help him to get more money.
