medicine is useful whether or not it's a science like theology. she's failing to appreciate transparent goods. not all things need to be instrumental.

it's not meaningless, it's just expressing a misunderstanding. if it was meaningless there would be no conceivable answer. people can say 'by definition, nothing is north of that', or 'this hypothesis proposes that x 'came' before the big bang'.

Those seem like they'd be asked by a young child still figuring out how to organize and relate information into useful mental frameworks.  I wouldn't call them meaningless.
