skeptic media portal for web content
« on: Apr 29, 2012, 01:05:45 PM »
Ive been thinking for a long time now that "we" really should get our act together and make all the really great content out there much more accessable.
I guess i am mostly thinking here of video and podcasts, as the written forms are fairly well catered for.
I would like to see a portal that brings the best pro science, critical thinking, woo debunking shows, aswell as a place to find all the great conferences on science, secularism all to one central place, that is easy to navigate, easy to filter to the content you are looking for.
There are lots of folk out there doing live web TV shows that get few viewers because we just dont know about them. I wouldnt be surprised if you couldnt get a live internet skeptic channel that was virtually 24/7, using blog tv, google + ... not to mention the recorded podcasts
We need a portal i say.
trouble is, i dont have the skills to facilitate it. bummer.
could this be done?
should this be done?

Copyright laws would be your downfall.  Several blogs do this, but they all have their own issues... being blogs being the largest.

hmm, ok, interesting.
never thought copy right would be an issue if you seek consent of the provider.
Imk not talking of bbc documentaries, im talking of content produced by people who just have something to say and want to have it heard.
I have an internet enabled TV. It has a widget that allows me to watch youtube. Even with just youtube i have hundreds of hours of great content...i can watch setiinstutue lectures, caltech, nasa ... any number of the university outreach lectures. all just on youtube.
you might be right, but i really hadnt seen that as an issue
basically, i am talking about outreach content by the providers, sending folk directly to their own content.
