Whale Wars: Viking Shores

Me and Ms. Xptical sat down last night and watched this. I usually try and catch WW when I can; just to root for the whalers.
Still, this looks to be pretty brutal. This isn't a bunch of Japanese with harpoons. These people are crazy. They kill whales on the shore with knives.
As always, the hippies screwed up right out of the gate. Boat impounded and equipment seized.
And all the while, bad-assed vikings sitting on the dock eating whale meat.

It's pretty gross but probably not a lot different than killing cattle. Are the whales endangered?

They bring in a few types of dolphins as well.
As far as it being no different than any other slaughterhouse, I agree. However, I see most of the people on the Whale Wars' boats as vegetarians/vegans who think all killing is wrong. There's a few who don't mind the killing for food, they just think whales are too smart to be used for food.
Then, there are the few on the boats who do it for fame/money. If they weren't doing this, they'd have to find "real" jobs...

I saw another program where they were going after tuna fishermen in the mediterranean, off the coast of Lybia, I think. They are crazy going up against the Lybians! ;)
