So for some reason all electricity in the world fails. Could be interesting, but so implausible I don't know if I could take it. The producers of the show don't seem to really understand how electricity works.
ting-bu-dong:
While the premise sounds interesting, the trailer makes it clear that there is no worldbuilding to speak of. People have been living without electricity for 15 years and they are all healthy, have clean clothes and perfect teeth? The involvement of J.J. Abrams also means the reveal of why electricity went away is very likely to be stupid. I hope I'm wrong though, there is a shortage of good sci fi on TV at the moment.
PANTS!:
How is there still light if "all" electricity went away?
ting-bu-dong:
Never mind that, how are their neurons still firing?
superdave:
the way they are setting this up seems more like alternate history than sci-fi. But yeah, the reason the electricity goes away HAS to be stupid. A fundamental law of nature has essentially been nullified. There is nothing on earth could do this. So the only thing it could be are aliens, a deity, or a worldwide conspiracy so secret and so powerful that it doesn't even come close to not being laughable. I mean we would be talking about a conspiracy to hide not just a weapon of godlike power but one that is so far beyond technological understanding that almost no one on earth is even aware of its theoretical underpinnings.
