Aldi must be different where I live, or maybe they have changed since I used to work near one. At that time, it was mostly large stacks of packaged goods. It was also the type of food that makes people overweight and unhealthy (high salt and fat). I'm curious to check again if there is a chance they are selling fresh stuff.

They are the parent company of "Trader Joes" as I recall....
I really like that most of the generic products are made by brand companies. At least here in Germany.
We used to do our shopping at Food Lion before they closed down everywhere in the south.

I just got back from Staunton, Virginia, and the Food Dog is alive and well there, and indeed, on up I-81 through Maryland. I guess it depends on your definition of "south."
