Just re-watched it. She killed a few guards who were trying to kill her, looked pretty fierce and not reticent during the fighting. Then broke down over Renly, then Catelyn convinced her to flee. So... meh, I guess she's over killing people, in the show.

I'm pretty sure she had to kill a few in the tent in the books to... although I may be missremembering

No, I don't think so. I don't remember the exact circumstances but it was pretty clear that she hadn't killed anyone until book four.

Well, they're splitting "Storm Of Swords" into two seasons.  It would seem to me that with a little shuffling, the Red Wedding would be the ideal split.  Though, the show does seem to have a pattern of make the big event happen in the penultimate episode, and then the final episode is the wrap up....

So the episode 9's will be the Red Wedding followed by the Wilding assault on the wall.
They'd better not split book 4 up into two seasons, there's barely enough for one. I'd like to think the series wraps up while I'm still in my twenties.

Well, seeing as Martin will be dead and gone before he finishes the books, I figure Sansa will be in her forties by time the series is done....

I think he confirmed he was 100 pages into book 6 this time last year. Which doesn't sound like much but should be enough for him to his tempo and knock out the rest in no time.

Especially seeing as he no longer has to deal with the editing nightmare that was book4/5

As book 4 and most of book 5 occurs simultaneously i think they will film the two together over two seasons. Rather than jumping backward in time, which would be too disorientating in a tv show.

100 pages would put him at about 9%-10%, right?

It's funny.. I had the same thought last night and it worried me. I'm deeply emotionally invested now, he'd better fucking live long enough to finish the series or I'm going to kill him.

Hmmm.  Maybe China Miéville is available.  I'd love to see that dude's version of post-doom Valyria.  Miéville generally hates traditional fantasy, but I'd bet even he would concede that Song Of Ice and Fire is NOT traditional fantasy.


Oh, THIS happened:

    You know, I asked George Martin about who Jon Snow's real parents were, and he told me. I can't say who, but I can tell you that it involves a bit of a Luke Skywalker situation. It will all come to fruition eventually. The whole thing with all the fight over proper succession is partly inspired by the War of the Roses in the late 1400s, and back then, to ensure pedigree, the monarchies were kind of inbred. It's definitely fucked up, but it definitely happened back then, so that's why there's incest with the Targaryen line. It's toned down, though.

Sounds to me like Ned Stark isn't Jon Snow's father.

I hear GRRM has lots of pages of notes about characters and events and blah blah blah, but I also heard he did not want the series to be ghost-written by someone else if he died.

Dude... you have no idea. It's absolutely brilliant and very important to the series. I assume that Martin plans to "reveal" it dramatically at some point, but there is a mountain of circumstantial evidence making the case pretty clear.
