Dangerous and irresponsible reporting from the BBC
« on: Jun 11, 2012, 02:54:33 PM »

The BBC's completely uncritical reporting on the subject of alternative therapies for the treatment of cancer. Basically they just couldn't resist putting a picture of Prince Harry in his uniform on their website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-18378735

I have submitted my complaint here:

https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/?reset=#anchor

Would be great if we could get a few more submitted.

Done.

We talked about this story on another thread somewhere.

Got a reply!

They added this to the article:
Quote
Martin Ledwick, head information nurse at Cancer Research UK, said: "Complementary therapies can be a useful way of helping people to cope with cancer treatment.

"We would always advise checking with your doctor first to make sure that the therapy you are interested in is safe and unlikely to interact with any other treatment you may be having."

Still doesn't change the overall tone of the article much but it's a small victory!

I'd like them to name one single way "complimentary" therapies are useful in cancer treatments and back it up with actual proof.

Well you can't really blame the BBC there - that's on Cancer Research UK being mealy-mouthed.
