I don't know...
This is different. This might be a growing pain.
I have likened the change the forum went through when I first started modding here to the change between meeting people at someone's house and meeting at the local pub. When you get too many friends to all meet at someone's house, you start going to the pub, and the rules are different there. You are expected to behave differently. Some friends don't like the change, and they get mad at the bouncer because they never needed a bouncer before, and who does this guy think he is? and so they make fun of the bouncer and eventually they find a different house to meet in. Meanwhile the vast majority of the friends don't care; they're just happy to be with friends and yeah, the bouncer's a pain in the ass sometimes but he really does have the best interests of the friends and the pub at heart.
That was a growing pain.
We've weathered dramastorms before. They're no big deal. But we've never had Rebecca publicly call us dumb before. It's kind of like a D-list actress making Joan Rivers' Ten Worst Dressed list. Very few people have ever heard of her before, but now she's been panned by a big celebrity, so now lots of people have suddenly heard how awful she is.
So now all these people who aren't members are reading very specific threads on the forum and deciding, from those threads alone, that we're all woman-haters. And, like it or not, we now have to deal with this.
This might be the growing pain that motivates us to go from local pub to hot nightclub. And the rules and behavior, again, would change. And some members will quit in protest again, and most people will shrug and adapt again.
You can tell when I've got a complex issue on my mind by the number of bad analogies I cram into one post.
