John Lennon wrote some totally unlistenable garbage.
But he also wrote some touching songs.

This one is simple, and somehow the tune leaves you hanging.. I think.. in some way I can't quite describe (a music expert might be able to say)

But something about it is beautiful to me.
It's the music I just know I'm going to hear as I lay dying some day.

This next one must have been from his "primal scream therapy" days. It disintegrates into complete nonsense by the end.
But the first half is sublimely lovely. I can't think of many phrases sung so lighter-than-air.

Conclusion: John Lennon didn't know how to finish songs.
I am in favor of killing all whales on principle. Where is my avalanche of 'provocateur' money?

My Trump-rage brought back to mind a favorite from the Lyndon Johnson/Vietnam era protest music genre. Most people remember Steppenwolf from "Born to Be Wild" (the first popular lyrical reference, I believe, to "heavy metal"). This is the long title track from "Monster."

The spirit was freedom and justice
And its keepers seemed generous and kind
Its leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
Now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told
Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watchin'
Mister Beagle
The real world is tri-color

Got it from some skyrim compilation many moons ago.

This song is so beautiful  :'( :)

In fact, most of the songs in Steven Universe are. This episode is a real doozy though with several really good songs. Well, three really good songs.

I have learnt this on the piano. That final chord sequence is so moving. Bm  A   Bb    Ebmaj7   Dmaj7 =  :'(
