I got Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes for 7.50.
Pretty happy.
Now to bully the family into playing it....

I got a $20 gift card in my stocking this morning, so suggestions for the next week are welcome.

I took advantage and got Pillars of Eternity at 60% off for $17.99 down from $44.99. It a pretty cool game so far.

I'm not a big gamer at all, but I've been repeatedly told over the years that I ought to play Portal.  I know it's 9 years old, but is it still worth playing if one never has?

For context, I think the last game I really personally played was Civilization III.

you ought to play portal and portal 2 both still relevant and 80% off, $1.99 and $3.99

Completing the advanced/least portals challenges in the original and the "Cave Johnson Levels" of Portal 2 are some of the most intellectually satisfying moments of my 25 years of gaming.

(although nothing has ever topped beating Lemmings at 9 years old)

Portal 1 & 2 are some of the best games I've played.

The gameplay is fantastic, and it would be worth it just for GLaDOS (in both) & Wheatley's (in P2) dialogue.

(click to show/hide)

I need to replay both of them some day.

If you liked Civ III:

Civilization IV: $4.99
Civilization V: $7.49
Civilization VI: $53.99

Civ V fell flat for me - a lot of things were changed to fix some fundamental problems in the game, like that late game sprawl of cities that made it such a drag to wrap things up. The solutions were good ideas, but the balance was off.

Civ VI takes these changes and makes them work. Civ V never really flowed for me - Civ VI has that same addictive omg is it TEN A.M ALREADY aspect.

If you don't want to spend $50 on a game I'd get IV, skip V and wait for VI to come down in price. IV is a solid game and was tied with Alpha Centauri as my favorite in the series. Civ VI is easily the best now.

The Saboteur is $6.50 on GoG right now: https://www.gog.com/game/saboteur

A fantastic blend of GTA, Assassin's Creed, and Hitman set in Nazi-occupied Paris. One of the best games ever made.

The Stanley Parable is $3 until Monday.  This game is absolutely not worth the full price, but absolutely worth the discounted cost.

The first 30 minutes or so are rather lame, but the next two hours were fantastic.  Some truly laugh out loud moments.  DO NOT read any walkthroughs until you're ready to throw a chair at your screen, or the whole game is ruined.

Played through most of the tutorials of Offworld Trading Company last night. I did not expect to like it this much - it's an RTS focused on economic competition; basically lawless laissez faire capitalism in space. The main guy behind it seems to be the lead designer for Civilization IV.

Normally $39.99 it's on sale for $13.59 until the sale ends tomorrow.

XCOM 2 only $12 (plus some other unannounced games) through February Monthly Humble Bundle, regularly $60 so a really good mark down.  Subscribe before 2/2 to get it (you can unsub before next month charges you)
