She's pure as New York snow

OK, How far do should you go to make a rhyme in a song?

So you're a songwriter and you've got this great lyric about having Bette Davis eyes, and your subject is all sultry and mysterious, and "all the boys thinks she's a spy" and you get to the middle of the coda and you say to yourself, "shit, I need a word that rhymes with 'eyes', uh, uh, uh, lies, pies, flies, sighs, Oh fuck yeah, SIGHS! perfect. Ok so we're already talking about movie stars that no one knows about so who is known for sighing...um, Maureen O'Hara? No.  Debbie Reynolds, ugh, too square, ...ooooohhhh....duh, Garbo! Greta Garbo! of course, if any golden age actress had sighs, it was Garbo you could say they were Standoff sighs!

and then while I'm at it. is there such a thing as "Harlow gold hair?" wasn't she an black and white film actress?  Was there a move, in color, that Jean Harlow's hair is proven to be gold? all the pictures I find it just looks white.

One thing I've noticed is that most people don't pay any attention to the lyrics outside of the hook.  In fact there's a song about just that.  I'd prefer a non rhyming stanza to some butchered pronunciation or lame forced line.  But that's personal taste.

I don't pay a lot of attention to lyrics in most songs, but if a song has a blatantly contrived lyric, it'll stick out.

Mr Crowley, won't you ride your white horse?
Mr Crowley, it's symbolic of course.

I still get mildly perturbed when I hear Kid Rock rhyme "things" with "things".

"And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things..."

Though I guess I have to give him credit for sampling "Werewolves of London" in the first place.

No. No credit. None.

Werewolves of London was already a superior song.
And Sweet Home Alabama was already a... song that existed.
Kid Rock receives zero credit.

Kid Rock gets negative credit.

He owes humanity to do everything in his power to never make anyone think of Kid Rock again, and perhaps erase all memories of him ever existing, THEN he gets to Zero Credit.

Wtf is forumvision?

It's a game. Each player submits songs to a moderator, who randomises and anonymises them and presents them back to all players, who then give each song a score. Who scored what is revealed at the end of each round. Then after 12 rounds, whoever has the highest score is the "winner"

It's a fun game to play, but I seriously burned out running the last one here so I don't want to moderate it again.

I would be willing to moderate, maybe co-moderate with Zaros  >:D

do you have any templates for the scoring matrix that you used for your posts or a spread sheet with the formulas for scoring already in it? It's ok if you don't, I could probably figure it out.

I could probably dig my blank template back up again.
