Early one morning the sun was rising,
I was a-laying in bed.
Wondering if she'd changed at all
Then STOCKHOLM CALLED and SAID...
Amend and resubmit.

Absolutely deservedly.

BTW, he is is only the second singer to ever receive the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Not being an English major, I have always been amused by the judgment of who is and who is not a "real" poet. I personally courted Mrs. Beagle many years ago with gifts of Rod McKuen poetry books, but then mention of his name (though having sold many millions of books, or BECAUSE of selling millions of books) drives "real poets" crazy.

I learned to play guitar with Bob Dylan books. I even have his recent album of Frank Sinatra covers.

They gave it to Dylan and not Cohen, who will probably die this year (so it was his last chance)? Outrageous.

I would have been happy with Cohen as well. But even if Cohen lives, I doubt we will see another singer-poet in the near future.

Due to my love of Dylan many people have suggested I listen to Cohen. I have tried several times. Never took.

(It took a while for Dylan to take as well)

To me, Dylan and Cohen are as different as pizza and snails. Some people certainly like both, but there is (to my ear) no similarity.

There's a pizzeria in Sicily that will serve you a pizza with snail. Also spinach and hard boiled eggs. (I only ordered "everything on it" once.)

Quote
Bob Dylan's failure to acknowledge his Nobel Prize in literature is "impolite and arrogant", according to a member of the body that awards it.
The 75-year-old singer was named the shock winner of the prize last week.
But all efforts by the Swedish Academy to contact him have failed, and he has not acknowledged the win in public.
