Transferring files from Droid Turbo 2
« on: December 18, 2016, 02:42:46 AM »
I have some home movies that are on my Turbo 2 that I want to edit on my windows tablet. But Gmail says many of the files are too large to send, and after trying all the USB cables in this hemisphere, my phone still refuses to allow me to transfer anything that way. I tried a service called DropSend, but it's either a scam or the initial upload keeps failing for some other reason.

Does anyone know what I can do?

I refuse to pay money, much less a hundred dollars, to move a few video files that are already mine.

I couldn't find any indication of a free option. Can you post a link?

https://www.dropbox.com/

the link says "sign up for free"  I think they give you up to 2 gigs for free

I've uploaded the first couple files, and I can play them through the Dropbox app, but I can't seem to isolate the files themselves in order to edit them together.

Any advice?

rightclick, choose download

as far as editing you will need an app, i dont have any experience editing on a tablet but I know some apps exist that will do that.

I have that part covered. It's a Microsoft Surface. Really a nice tablet, apart from a few infuriating flaws.

I will try downloading it as soon as I can get back to the tablet.

oh ok, so you are running win10,  another method would be to install the dropbox app on your surface then it should mirror your storage and download everything on its own.  if you plan on continuing to use dropbox I personally turn this off. You can drop files into your dropbox folder and they will automatically upload as well. I upload files for clients and the last thing I would want is to have all that mirroring to every pc with the app installed.  Some people like it to mirror, If its your personal music or photo collection i could see how this would be a good thing, pics and video from your phone would automatically be available on your surface for later editing.

best of luck

Thanks for your help. My first download keeps freezing at around 10%. Do you know anything about that?

I did manage to get it to download from the website. I wasted a lot of time trying to get it through the app. Unfortunately, I am know discovering that my plans for editing were optimistic. <sigh>  I hate technology.
