RICHARD ADAMS RIP
« on: December 27, 2016, 02:11:32 PM »
Watership Down remains one my top three favorite books, ever since I first read at 16 nearly forty years ago. Loved the animated film also. Never could make it to the end of The Plague Dogs, either the book or the animated film. Just too, too depressing. Which I guess is a testament to how well written the story was. Think I'm going to give Watership a re-read in his honor.

Yeah, just try to watch that clip without tearing up....I can't.

Yeah Plague Dogs ripped me up when I read it.  This is a great loss.

There are not many fantasy writers like him nowdays - I can think of only the collective known as Erin Hunter.

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

Well, 96 is a good long run. It's not like Fisher at 60, or Michael at 53.

Sure, this can't come as a surprise to anyone. But still.
