Debunk it!
« on: February 21, 2017, 08:03:49 AM »
So I have this game I made up because of certain circumstances which are explained in the game itself.

Here's the deal:
I saw something

You can ask only yes or no questions. You can guess at any time. Should I throw you a key, that point is likely a key piece to what I saw. If you are the one to guess correctly and you have a debunk of your own, post to keep the game going. If not, I think someone should be able to post one.

I saw a ghost. No, I didn't really. I know what I really saw. See if you can guess based on my yes/no responses.

WHAT I SAW:
I saw a robed person run in front of me for a couple seconds. It turned and looked at me. I could see no face under the hood, which was draped over its head. I could only see shadows where a face should have been. It lifted its arms in front of itself, floated at least a foot above the ground (I saw no feet, just robe), drifted about ten feet then vanished into a cloud of dust.

And go!

Were you awake at the time you saw it?

Correct.

Did the cloud of dust exist prior to the disappearance of the apparition, or did it appear concurrently with the disappearance?

Where you in a familiar place?

Was there anything left of the dust afterward?

Did you know what you were actually seeing right away?

Was the source of light on this scene the sun? The moon? Or artificial?

Ugh, pushing the yes/no question thing.  ;)

Is this something I am likely to have seen before as just a person living in the world?

Would a typical person have mistaken what you saw for a ghost?

Was the robed figure composed of some quantity of dust that was being moved around by air currents?

What...? Could've written each one out. Just being efficient... ;)

Were you participating in a public performance?
A novice was trying to fix a broken Lisp machine by turning the power off and on.
Knight, seeing what the student was doing, spoke sternly: “You cannot fix a machine by just power-cycling it with no understanding of what is going wrong.”
Knight turned the machine off and on.
The machine worked.
