I'm not so sure this is a good idea. What about religious freedom? I mean, all religions make contradictory claims so at most one of them can be true.
There's an interesting issue with regard to Mormonism in that it's writings aren't ancient. We, whether justified or not, give a lot of deference to ancient texts in terms of "authenticity" because, to an extent, we simply CAN'T validate them.
But a lot of the Mormom teachings come out of these plates that Joseph Smith allegedly found in the 1800s. The Mormom church, citing sacredness etc, has basically refused to subject these alleged findings to any kind of modern, scientific scrutiny which has always raised questions in the "If you're so sure these are divine in origin why can't anyone else look at them?" vein.
