I'm getting a new video card and can't wait to put it work. I'll join the GPU team when I get it installed, my GTS 8600 has done well on seti but the 250 should blow it out of the water. 128 cores, 1gb of ddr3, and 47 billion texture fill rate per second. Must will UPS to move faster.

yeah, I defected to just BOINC, I really like being able to see and manage all in one place.

Plus BOINC can run multiple processor cores, and it can do GPU computing.

Sorry, I'm already with the Furries team for SETI@Home, even though there probably won't be any alien signals detected for millions of years if ever.

That's just great!  If they are detected, and the aliens find out it was by a bunch of furries, they'll probably make it a point not to contact us again.

Downloaded BOINC and joined the AQUA@Home project. I searched for the SGU team and found "Skeptic's Guide to the Universe Fan Team". Is that the one everyone's using?

Edit - Joined the Rosetta@Home project as well.

yep, that's it. Welcome aboard.

I've been having problems with mine on my windows box. I noticed a fan and died and BOINC was not responding. I did a force quit on it before shutting down and changing out the fan. After that Boinc would could not connect to localhost. After much fussing around I deleted all the app data and uninstalled then reinstalled but now it only sees one core on my duel core. I've changed up the preferences and it's still not seeing it. I did a quick search on the boinc forums but did not find much on it. Anyone have any ideas?

Which BOINC projects are you having problems with?
Some possible solutions that I can think of.

1. Under preferences, Use at most: 100% of the processors.

2. AQUA is multithreaded, so it will grab both cores of a dual-core machine to run each work unit.  You can check that both cores are running (in Windows task manager I think).  If all cores are running, then everything should be fine.  The current AQUA work units are finishing in about 25-30 hrs on my dual-core.

3. AQUA sometimes doesn't work well with other projects.  There is a known problem with cores being left idle. http://aqua.dwavesys.com/forum_thread.php?id=336

4. The latest versions of BOINC might have problems.
Try going back to an earlier version.   6.10.3 is working fine for me.

Well before the crash and reinstall it would work 2 projects at a time plus the GPU(seti & GPUgrid) when it was not in use. Now it's just one project and the GPU when not in use. I'm working on SETI, enstien, LHC, climate prediction, GPUgrid and roseta. Not sure witch version but will double check when I get home. The multicore preferences where set to 100%. I'll probably have to try anther version.

There was a problem with the BOINC version you are currently running. I don't know if this is the problem that you are having, but updating could fix it.

The Windows versions of 6.6.41 have been recalled due to a version mismatch with recent Microsoft updates.
Please use the 6.6.38 version until 6.10 is released.

Try one of the these links.
BOINC 6.10.17 (current BOINC version)

BOINC 6.10.3 (GPUGRID recommended version)

crap, still only seeing one core. I searched the boinc forums and found the line of code that controls that but every time I change it, it does not save.  I can not find the exact file so what I'm looking at must be a log of some sort. Will try a few things and post more detail about what I'm talking about later in case the problem comes up for others.

I just joined the team. I generally follow stats on the BOINCstats.com website.
