I know right! Also, the second half is the original story, so bonus.

I just finished "God No" by Penn Jillette on Audible a few months ago. I started reading "Every day is an Atheist holiday" but then put it down after a few chapters, God No was much more enjoyable listening to Penn read it himself so I am going to do the same with this new one.

The passion and excitement he puts into reading his own words adds quite a bit to his stories.

So, I really really enjoy Wil Wheaton's voice acting. I did a search on Audible and he narrates some of Robert Zelzany's Chronicles of Amber series. Nerds of this forum: Should I read this series?

Dunno - I've never actually read them myself.

I did listen to Old Man's War, and I'm part way through Ghost Brigade now.  Pretty enjoyable.  Scalzi is up my alley.

Listening to The Wizard of Oz narrated by Anne Hathaway. She is amazing. I feel like a kid being read the best bedtime story ever.

I grabbed that since it was free. Haven't gotten around to it yet.

Finished Ghost Brigade. It was fine but I liked old man's war better.

I could never get through them, myself. They were too slowly paced for my taste. YMMV.

Oy, Audible is having a sale right now, $9.95 or less for a lot of books. Jon Ronson's Psychopath Test is only $3.95 atm. I already own the book, sadly, but for those who don't (and have an Audible account, I think), it's a steal!

I read 'Lord of Light' ages ago, so long ago and so many books ago I can't remember if I liked it.

I think he is pretty full on science fiction.

I am listening to "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace.

Jeepers! the text is about a thousand pages, and the footnotes another 100 pages. Some of the footnotes have footnotes !

Audible decided not to narrate the footnotes - they provide them in pdf - so I am listening, with my pdf file open next to me. A bit distracting. But I can see how Audible faced a very hard decision there. Ultimately, I think they were correct in not audio-ing them.

DFW is a flipping genius - and he is no doubt showing off massively with this work. It is complex, and dense, and funny (very) and absurd and sad and satirical - and he communicates ideas with the very structure of his novel. I am quite overwhelmed by it - but utterly captivated.

I will definitely read it again slowly once I have finished listening. It is an absolute gem.

I just started listening to "The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack". I think it's supposed to be a detective/steam punkish story. The elements of steam punk aren't overt, though, so far at least. The narrator is British, so that's a plus. I'm not far enough into the story to really have an opinion about it.

I've heard good things about this one.  It's definitely on my radar.
