TV & Movies / Re: Sherlock Season 4

I lost interest last season.  It felt like the writers think people watch Sherlock Holmes to vicariously feel special and were increasingly writing for that.  It just started feeling weird and uncomfortable.

I knew this was uncomfortably too common but It didn't know it was often government stationed. I always kind of had this image of secret church weddings with no official licenses issued by a town clerk or judge in my head.

I am surprised clerks don't pick up the phone and call CPS before issuing marriage licenses to underage girls and their adult 'husbands'.  Forcing your victim to marry you suddenly undoes statutory rape?

Probably the domesticated zombies from Shawn of the Dead.

I love that movie.
Clearly the best of the Three cornettos trilogy.

yes

I enjoyed The Worlds End and Hot Fuzz but neither come close to Shawn of the Dead.

TV & Movies / Sherlock Season 4

Finally got around to watching it on Netflix.

Seriously wtf?!?!?.......................................

Each episode made less and less sense. Were the writers doing drugs while writing about Sherlock on a bender? Outside of a few great one-off scenes (Mrs. Hudson kidnapping and cleaning to Iron Maiden and Moriarty's Arrival were highlights), I want my time back.

If you are looking for a good binge I do recommend the first 3 seasons, however.

ps: I am sure there is a 2012 or 2013 thread but I am lazy.

General Discussion / Genuine Mystery - SOS in Western Australia
« Last post by Desert Fox on May 26, 2017, 11:37:18 PM »
If ti is real, odds are pretty good the person is dead

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-40024824

Is it a false alarm, or a genuine plea for help?

An SOS signal made of rocks in a remote part of Western Australia has prompted fears that someone, or more than one person, could be missing.

The distress signal was spotted by a helicopter pilot. It led to a ground search by police who had to reach the area by air because of tough terrain.

Authorities have now appealed for public help after failing to find "any indication of recent human activity".

However, police said they had discovered the remains of a campsite at the scene, which is at Swift Bay about 500km (300 miles) from the city of Broome.

You said it had a very elongated orbit. That was false.

Yes obviously it has tidal deformation from Jupiter, but its orbit is less elongated than most other things in the solar system.

Yes, I was mistaken. 0.009 is relatively circular. When I read about the how strong and variable the tidal pulls were thought to be on the ice, oceans and rock I assumed it was due to an elongated orbit. It's due to its proximity to Jupiter.

My bad.
