Thanks for covering this story so thoroughly.

I wonder if we'll see Ms. Val Thomas on the talk show circuit in the near future. I'm sure Oprah would just love her. ::)

According to the press, the medical profession goes around in a more-or-less constant state of bafflement. How do you cope with that, Steve? :)

I don't know if anyone cares to research this story any further, but I found what I think may be the original article. It goes into more detail than the other articles and gives the name of her doctor (Dr. Kevin Eggleston) and the two hospitals she was taken to in West Virginia (Thomas Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center). Apparently Dr. Eggleston is at Thomas Memorial.

I saw this earlier this week. in an even more unbelievable form.
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2723449/
In the description:
A woman who suffered three heart attacks and had no brain waves for 17 1/2 hours was revived and is now very much alive, despite rigor mortis having started to set in.

I hope it was just incompetence on the part of one of the web guys and not written by someone who calls themselves a reporter.

Imagine my surprise when Evan read my Boing Boing comment predicting the SGU would cover this topic!
