Michael Shermer - Why Darwin Matters (2006)
« on: July 04, 2008, 04:26:56 PM »
Short, clear and well-written, this book explains the forces behind intelligent design (ID) - both our natural reactions and the religious arguments.
It goes on to list the ID arguments and some interesting thoughts from the inside of that tribe.

The strong undercurrent is real science with explanations of how it works and why the Theory of Evolution is such a brilliant example of it.
There is also a couple of chapters on how US conservatives and believers might come to accept evolution in a very nice and conciliatory tone.

I'd recommend it to anyone who has the misfortune to have creationists of any stripe in their midst.
