As most people I don't care much whether it stays or goes. This is actually even less important than when Jay should say the quote (an issue which caused the Dutch cabinet to fall and the American ambassador getting expelled from France!). It does clutter up the forum though, and it's completely useless. I prefer seeing it go.

Is it possible for people to turn it on or off? That might be a good alternative :)

I say stay! And I do believe I should earn a great deal of good karma for that comment, since it was done in a true altruistic fashion without any ulterior motives.

i wish i could applaud you multiple times in a row

your avatar is so full of win..

No, yours is!  ;D Btw, Lapa deserves the applaud since she actually made it. But you can just continue applauding me and I'll pass it along...promise.

A big problem with Karma is that you get people like Shlenkerb (or whatever his/her name is) who are young and come to the forum speaking all kinds of garbage because they don't know any better. The same thing has happened with a few other members, they got bullied until they started being more careful with their posts and now they are great contributors. Shlen on the other hand started getting this negative karma, and I think as a result has decided to become a troll to see how much bad karma he/she can get.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, that's just how it seems to have happened.

I agree with you and that is happening right now.  It does encourage stupidity and useless smite or applaud posts.

So I say it goes just on that principle.

just so everyone knows, in case they hadn't already, stupidity existed before karma and stupidity will exist after karma.  just different forms.  you cannot eradicate stupidity (under current laws).

To be fair , nobody said anything about eradicating it. Simply removing one unnecessary source/cause for  it. :)

Being this occupied with popularity isn't all that skeptical surely? I'm with Ape... It's clutter. Then again, I'm prejudiced anyway because I still don't like the new forum layout.

Why do things always have to change? It's just so scary.

Really?

So far, I've found SMF superior in pretty much every way.

Shit, Karma is gone...

THANK JEBUS! The fact that a few people were so obvious about trying to get + or - was annoying.  :-[
