Yeah, I can't get quite the same tone out of my Epiphone Les Paul ;)

lol nope, neck scale is too small to be down tuning to Bb.

With absolutely no relevance to the topic, here's me playing my Epiphone, my Mapex drumkit and my Kawai bass :) Kind of a rough mix, I'm still working on it. I'm primarily a drummer, so the guitar riffs are pretty rudimentary.

Yeah you need a seven if you want to chug to the drums in the coolest way. Which I love doing btw,  Sounded cool.  Some of my music changes tempos and meter every bar.  My newest song I am working on goes 4/4  3/4  5/4  4/4  3/4  7/4  3/4  7/4  3/4 4/4.

But I got one track online that I did for Halloween Halloween song

Yeah, I'm a big fan of odd meters - though 5/4 is about the only one I can play fluidly and effortlessly on the drums. I love how Vinnie Colaiuta grooves his way through "Seven Days" by Sting - you can't even tell it's in an odd meter!

Cool!  I was able to add almost everyone's recommends to list of mine at Playlist.com.  I'm really excited to hear all of these--though there seems to be a disproportionate amount of metal fans  in our little corner of the skeptical world here.  But whatever, I'll listen to 'em all.

Neutralmilk, are you also a fan of A Hawk and A Hacksaw?  That's Jeremy Barnes', Neutral Milk Hotel's amazing drummer's, latest band.  When he and his girlfriend and bandmate aren't in Budapest they live in Albuquerque, and they're friends of my wife and my brother and I.  Their music, if you haven't already heard it, sounds like old-time Romanian folk music meets modern pop-rock sensibilities, and it's pretty awesome.

4. Too Drunk to Dream - The Magnetic Fields

I just stumbled on this new album the other day; so far, I've just heard Please Stop Dancing, which I quite enjoy. I finally listened to The Arm. It's fantastic.

It's crap compared to Retrun to the Sea, though IMO. I enjoy it, but was just disappointed it didn't have the eclectic feel of the first.

Definitely glad you enjoy it, though.

Ooh, good list!  "Caravan Girl" is undeniably great, as is anything by Elbow.  Thank you for that.  I'm going to add all of them to a playlist ASAP.

Neutral Milk--

I have to say, you were so right about "The Modern Leper."  That song rocks and rolls ten different ways.  Frightened Rabbit seems to me to be one of the more likely heirs apparent to the musical miracle that was Neutral Milk Hotel.  They seem to have a comparable mercurial looseness, hysterical edge, and philosophical bent, and frankly, I can only find that arousing.

Also, Musteion--

For "Black Balloons" by The Kills--thank you.  That song's a sinister gem.

That's on my list now too.  It makes me think of the Shins if they were fronted by Sarah Mclachlan.

2008 was a bad music year for me. So much damn... obnoxiousness. Not least of which was Katy Perry. She kicked off the 2008 ObnoxiousFest.

But there was redemption. Lucid Dreams, by Franz Ferdinand. Can't wait for the new album.
