Speaking of Last Podcast on the Left

Two other shows on their network are brilliant:

http://cavecomedyradio.com/pod-series/abelincolnstophat/
Ben Kissel, Marcus Parks talk about politics

http://cavecomedyradio.com/pod-series/wizard-and-the-bruiser/
Jake Young, Holden McNeely, Marcus Parks talk about nerdy shit.

I listen to these two regularly. They have some great interviews on Top Hat, most notably with Saman Arbabi.

Last Podcast on the Left live show in SLC. It's a bad picture. Henry on the left, Marcus middle left, and Ben's on the right.

It was a blast.

I somehow managed to listen to about 10 episodes of their podcast and learn nothing at all. it's like a frequency I can't hear.

I miss Caustic Soda :(

Really into Snap Judgement lately. Though sometimes it swerves into the woo (one NY detective who found "evidence" for past lives. THE GUY WAS A DETECTIVE FOR F's SAKE!) the stories are mostly well told and researched.

This one is the most compelling story I've heard in a while.

Any good podcasts where it's just stand-up comedy?

You mean, like recorded performances?  I don't know any of those.  I think there are comedy channels on Pandora or Spotify where you can hone in on standup.

There are lots of podcasts made by comedians, and a couple of those are specifically about the craft/trade of standup.  Comedian's Comedian is a UK-based one where Stu Goldsmith interviews other comics about the craft of standup.  The Jackie and Laurie Show is a US-based one where Jackie Kashian and Laurie Kilmartin talk about the practical business of being standup comedians.

Yeah, I was hoping for recorded performances. I was listening to This American life, and I just love when they integrate standup into their program.

Thanks anyway!

A new podcast just came out from the creators of Serial and This American Life, called S-Town.  Only just started listening to it, but I can easily see myself getting hooked.

Devoured it all yesterday.  It's a goodn', mad sad tho.

One that I am really digging right now.

The Sometimes Seminar.  Super nerdy literary-theory level analysis of pop-culture (many different mediums) and genre fiction (typically Sci-Fi and Fantasy literature, with lovely digressions into early but forgotten genre shapers).

Ah nuts. Seems like the Parapod as a podcast is over. That stinks.
