That's interesting, but it is not very illuminating IMO, because it neglects the effects of the jet stream, of elevation, and of the tempering influence of the Mediterranean. There are differences between Italy, for instance, and the states of Colorado and Wyoming that go far beyond and are far more significant than the influence of latitude.

Right, which is part of what makes the map interesting. It's surprising to realize that Boston and the south of France are equally far north (and, for example, get the same amount of sun-above-horizon time in the winter), given how different the climates are.
The world is so exquisite with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there's little good evidence. Far better...is to look death in the eye and to be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides.

common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I'd love for that map to be zoomable.

The page is a bit temperamental but it does work.

The expected places are highlighted in my state. Cradle Mt, Lonnie, Hobart, Freycinet and Port Arthur

From the map, Seoul is the most developed.

I've ridden on 9 of those systems. And been to about 15 of the cities.

They show the Gold Coast with it's one light rail line and not Melbourne with its extensive rail and historic tram network? Or even Brisbane's rail network. Sydney has a large metro rail network.

Brisbane:

Sydney:

Melbourne:

Perth:

Adelaide:

Given how poorly the Australian cities are represented, I would be sceptical about the accuracy of the rest of the graphic.

I can confirm the Montreal one is pretty accurate. Strangely not based on the actual map they are using in the metro itself? Not sure where they did their research.
