Rock band II
« on: November 03, 2008, 10:29:15 PM »
OK I know I'm a little bias here but why couldn't they have come up with a little bit better/more Canadian artists for the Canadian leg of the rock band tour????

Neil young?
Headstones?
Tragically hip?
Jeff Healey?

I mean come on people! we have more to offer than Alanis Morsette!

In the first Rock Band they had a New Pornographers song. They're a pretty excellent Canadian super-group.

In what world is New Pornographers a super group?
Unless my friends watched Rita and friends growing up most of them had never even heard of New Pornographers.

And You outta know??

If they wanted a token female band they could have stuck in Kitty.

Um.. a world that uses the definitions of words to give them meaning?

In the late 1960s, the term supergroup was coined to describe "a rock music group whose performers are already famous from having performed individually or in other groups.

The New Pornographers is a Canadian indie rock supergroup formed in 1997 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Their sound is highly influenced by such power pop bands as The Cars and Cheap Trick.

AC Newman + Dan Bejar + Neko Case + Katheryn Calder = Super group.

Wow. That was painful. That sounded like Evanensence if Evanesence could suck just a little harder (a tough feat, I guess I should congratulate Kitty!)

Honestly though, regardless of what I think of the music, those are the kind of songs I hate playing on rock band. The guitar is probably really really fast and then small gap and then really really fast, and the drumming sounded like it was terribly erratic and constant.

This from the guy who was excited they included you Oughta know.  :)

& You can not call a group a super group unless the members have been part of popular or successful bands. Apart from Kurt Dahle (And even him) I bet the majority of the world wouldn't have even heard of any of the artists.

Actually I saw New Pornographers this summer, they would have been really good but volume on everything was pinned and it made the show hard to listen to.

I like You Oughta Know for the nostalgia factor. It was the first CD I ever owned (when I was 12) and so it has always held a place for me.

Plus did you know that song was written about the end of her relationship with Dave Coulier!

I can't imagine such a lovable clown as Joey Gladstone inspiring that kind of rage in anyone.
