I just tried to use a spoiler in the How Thoughtful thread in Explicit and I got that error message about not having permission to use spoilers.

Maybe because it is in explicit, or something?

There are board-level permissions on SMF as well as member-level and membergroup-level permissions.  Explicit has its own set of permissions (so that people stuck in Explicit Jail can post there) so I had to specifically enable spoilers in that permission set.

It's turned on now.  Please see if you can post a spoiler there, and let me know!
I expect to pass through this world but once;
any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now;
let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
