locked and restricted threads
« on: June 03, 2009, 10:49:24 PM »
So is it only the site mod that can lock a thread?
no way for the thread author to do it?

also is there a way to restrict a thread to certain users?

I'm thinking about these questions for mafia games.
I'd like to start a thread for my game and lock it until we're ready to go.
I'd also like a graveyard where the dead can chat where the living can't see.

any chance?

Currently, the only people who can lock a thread are mods and admins.  There is a setting in the forum software that would allow members to lock threads that they started, but it is not enabled.

No.  There is a way to restrict forums to certain users, but no way to restrict individual threads.

I could set the Forum Games forum-level permissions to let members lock their own threads, but is really no way to have a resticted "graveyard" thread.

usually, when you want to let people chat in a graveyard session, you just set up a google group and invite all the dead people.  At least that's how it's been done in the past.

I knew this option was available but then the dead would have to share their addresses and the participation doesn't stay on our forums.

Thanks for the answers.
