(This is not exactly a "Forum-Based Game" but I diodn't know where else to put it...)

Anyone here play chess?

Here's a nice site for playing online:

http://www.redhotpawn.com

So far I'm 9-0 and provisionally rated at 1521.

If you'd like to try me, my screen name there is FastEddieB (natch).

You should look at FICS, it is really nice with all the features that are incorporated. You can play it completely through your browser, but I personally like to play on it with babachess. That way I can save games and look at them with computer analysis later.

RedHotPawn has that feature as well. I copy and paste the pgn notation into a word processor for perpetuity.

I enjoy replaying games. Here's one I just completed where I launch (as white) a faulty combination (starting with nxp) that I think will win the exchange, but doesn't. He ends up with two bishops for a rook, and well-placed pieces and I think I'm in for a long defensive grind. Then one pawn grab by his queen and I have a combination where I capture his two bishops for a rook, leaving material equal. But his King is exposed in the center and I keep the pressure on until a passed rook pawn is too great a threat:
