The ever-so-devious IaN.

These are some of my deviations from deviantArt.
(yes, I realize that I recently created a dA topic, but that has nothing to do with this.)

Tell me what you think.

If you're asking advice, I can do that.

So, in the following image, I've pointed out some areas I'd work on. The blue arrows on the top right are what I assume is the direction of light in the area these guys are in. I think the bat's ear (which is circled) could be darker, since light probably wouldn't be hitting it.

Along the jaw line of the dude in the hat, it looks kind of like he's got a beard. And on the chest where I've circled again in blue, I'd say just add a bit of darker area.

I think you did a good job over all, especially if you did this from imagination. Drawing from the imagination is frakking hard. That's why I try to never to it any more. References, references, references ^_^

Hmm... okay, thanks!

Oh, and while it was mostly from imagination, I did need to use references on general things, like proportions and shapes of certain features.

Oh, and it isn't a dude. ::)

Sexist!

Well, considering that I'm doing the art on someone else's request, I don't think it is.

How come I had to find this rather than you just showing them to me?

If that's free-hand... that's damned good work!

Not too shabby, dude! Keep it up!

I realize you're probably just using whatever you have handy, but I like the sort of rawness of using lined paper.

That's biological.

He's also a best friend. (I know parents shouldn't do that, but I honestly don't have a lot of friends being a skeptic in rural FL)

Thanks. I use lined paper primarily because I often do these in school. However, I did try to transition once to a sketchbook. The different texture of the paper made my lines come out in a way I didn't like. It wasn't as smooth when drawn on there. And it didn't help that the paper also made it harder to erase any lines I didn't like, which is bad when you use guide lines.

So, I decided that I would just keep using the lined paper.

That's as good a reason as any! And, either way, it seems to be working for you so far. Keep at it :)
