I didn't know gasoline could get that stiff in temperatures that happen naturally on Earth. Neat.

I think it is the rubber not the gasoline that is stiff but I could be wrong.

At what temperature does diesel and petrol freeze? | Naked Science Forum

The range for petrol seems to be somewhere between -40°C and -60°C,

So, yea, that temperature is too cold to be compatible with human life. So, definitely Canada. Probably in April or May.

Yeah, hoses will freeze at temperatures we find in Russia. (What images are invoked by the word "Siberia"?)

This is old news. But I missed it somehow. Disparate YouTube videos chopped up and stitched together into a novel whole.  A documentary came from it. I'd not heard of it until today,  Here's one result by a band that never was, and still is

The resultant doc about the singer, it's uplifting!

I saw sheet lightning once at night. Easily one hundred square miles of sky involved in one blast. Quite the awesome.

Watching these I can't help but think about how the ubiquity of cameras has allowed us to see some amazing shit.  And how none of it has been bigfoot, nessie, or aliens.

More info:

What causes the spectacular bolts of crawler lightning to flash across the sky?

At first I didn't believe the lightning was real, it looks like the old After Effects cheap lightning effect which is horrible. I studied the way lightning appears on camera for a music video I worked on. In my case studies the lightning hits the ground and looks completely different. The 4k footage may also have had a much higher frame rate when they shot it.

Neat stuff
