Yeah, I was trying to be brief but thrusting attacks from spears or penetrative strikes from the likes of a warhammer etc were what I was thinking.
Ideally I believe it was prefered to deflect the force away from the body rather than to absorb the force?
I know that with ballistic armour this is the case, even though bullets will generally not be deflected much.
Point being- Male/female combat armour should not be obviously different if viewed while worn.
