I too thoroughly enjoy it.  I also laugh a lot while watching it.  More than while watching Adventure Time, to be sure.  But I have to take points off of Rick and Morty because it is very misanthropic, and I feel their relationship is too abusive.  I know thats just me being myself, but I just can't watch too much of that stuff.  It puts me in a funk.  If there was an outside observer who commented on the inappropriateness of the situation, (ala the Office or Curb) I can normally absorb those shows with less stress.
Ah yeah, I can see where that could get to you. That freakin guy's show Curb Your Enthusiasm made me too pent up to watch. Couldn't hack it.

the abusiveness sort of comes to a head towards the end of the season.

What I love most about the show is its continuity.
Morty explaining to summer what he feels when he looks out at the place in the yard where he buried that spoilery thing was hilarious and moving.
The sequence where he resumes his normal life right after he buries it is funny but you know his life will never be the same again!

Well ultimately there is no continuity between the first and second half of the season.  Beyond the titular characters that is.

Speaking of continuity - here's some non-cannonical adventures to tide you over.

Catching up with this and love it. Just started season 2.

I'm a little 'discomforted' by how often I... kinda... 'relate' to Rick....
Don't tell anyone I said that, OK?
:-P

What the everloving fuck, Henning?  Why am I watching this, again?  I was seriously, majorly put off by the pilot episode, but after two more, I'm warming up to it a bit.  :)

Jeremy, Hen instructed me to get caught up because season three is starting soon.  Later tonight, actually, I think.

Okay, if you make it through the next three and still aren't feeling it, you can give up.
The next three are M. Night Shame-aliens, Meeseeks and Destroys, and Rick Potion #9 (hoooooo, boy).
Each one is brilliant and dark and totally exemplary of the best the show has to offer. These, and the finale, are the core eps of season 1. And then second season totally blows them out of the water in terms of quality.

The premiere date of season 3 is still a mystery.
There was a rumor (quashed now by both Roiland and Harmon) that tonight was it.

Nope.
But this animatic looks pretty awesome.

I'm prepared to watch all of seasons one and two, boyo.  You generally don't steer me wrong.  I can see why you admire the writing.

But I have to take points off of Rick and Morty because it is very misanthropic, and I feel their relationship is too abusive.  I know thats just me being myself, but I just can't watch too much of that stuff.  It puts me in a funk.

There is that, yes.  Plus the grossness.  :)  I'll see how it goes.

There is A LOT of heart in the series, you just have to ride the rollercoaster to get to it. If nothing else Qubie, watch Total Rickall in season 2, it is by far the best episode in the series.
