This researcher created an algorithm that removes the water from underwater images

Bill Maher's statement was just a smarmy cheer for the Democratic Party. And Neil DeGrasse Tyson totally got carried away with showing off how much he knows about science history.

Maher's statement is objectively wrong for two very simple and obvious reasons which Dr. Tyson overlooked:
  • The ACA didn't give healthcare to 30 million people. It mandated that they purchase it out of their own pockets.

  • The main reason why going to the Moon was so important is because nobody had ever done it before.
The ACA might have been a breakthrough if every other industrially developed country in the world hadn't already managed to provide its people with affordable health care.

I should be embarrassed that that's an Aussie, but I've seen worse letters to the Editor. At least that one is a New South Welshman  ;)

I remember one that was in my local paper 20+ years ago (The Mercury), where a woman was questioning Hydro-electricity, and asking if studies had been done to see if taking the electricity out of the water was safe. ???

I'm pretty sure that's a parody. I'm sure I've seen similar ones before.

That's why you should tell the ethics board nothing and stick with ingredients you already have at home.
